About AISHE

The All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) is a yearly survey conducted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The aim of the survey is to collect data on various aspects of higher education in India, including the number of colleges, universities, students, teachers, and infrastructure facilities available. The survey provides a comprehensive and up-to-date picture of the higher education sector in India and helps the government in formulating policies and programs related to education. The data collected through the survey is used for various purposes such as research, planning, monitoring, and evaluation of the higher education sector. The survey involves all institutions in the country engaged in imparting higher education. Data is being collected on several parameters such as teachers, student enrolment, programmes, examination results, education finance and infrastructure. Indicators of educational development such as Institution Density, Gross Enrolment Ratio, Pupil-teacher ratio, Gender Parity Index, Per Student Expenditure are calculated from the data collected through AISHE. These are useful in making informed policy decisions about higher education institutions. Moreover, the data collected through AISHE is utilized in research for development of education sector. Government College of Art and Craft, Calcutta has successfully (C-11895) has successfully uploaded the data of AISHE from 2020-2021 onwards.
